It’s not easy being a leader in today’s world. So much is expected of us all and as leaders we are expected to show the way.
As role models we are taught that we need to inspire people to work harder, push further, be more and generally be something that no-one can be all of the time. Frustration and daily stress are the order of the day, but we are not allowed to be seen to be ‘weak’, so we carry on and as we try and meet expectations we slowly start to crumble.
As leaders we know that it is our job to inspire and motivate to get the best out of those that work with us, but how can we inspire and motivate others when we feel too tired to feel inspired and motivated ourselves? How can we get the best out of others when we are unable to get the best out of ourselves?
Understanding what motivates and inspires us and those we lead lies at the HeArt of sustainable leadership. Understanding that when we compromise ourselves, we compromise everyone around us. Understanding that when we are unable to have compassion for ourselves, for our humanness, we are less likely to have it for others.
Programmes for organisations that want to put integrity and authenticity back at the HeArt of Leadership.
